By train we went to visit a regular secondary school. We all got a buddy (a teacher teaching the same subject as you) and followed a few of their lessons. This was very interesting. For most of us the level of teaching was a deception. Especially language teaching, the French teacher was unitelligable.
What struck us the most was the fact that pupils were given no responsiblity for their own tasks. Most of the lessons were with a lot of teacher talking time and the materials were old-fashioned.
The positive side was to experience that our own way of teaching wasn't so bad after all. Although lots of improvements could be made, of course!

In the afternoon we did some sightseeing. Colchester is Britain's first Roman city and has an impressive castle. It was here that the Emperor Claudius received the surrender of the celtic kings to found the Roman Province of Britannia. And every era since - from the Saxon, the Norman, the Medieval, the Tudor, the Stuart, the Georgian, the Victorian to the Modern - has left its mark on the town and added to the richness of its heritage
We took a guided tour through the castle and walked around the park surrounding the castle.
